Parking
Woolloongabba practice:
There is limited parking available for our patients in a car park behind our building at 7 Catherine Street, Woolloongabba, 4002. Enter via the white boom gate - this will open as you approach. You'll need to get a token from our receptionist to exit the car park.
Metered street parking is also available on the surrounding streets.
Virtual Consultations
For follow-up appointments virtual (telehealth) consultations may be an option. Many of our patients in regional Queensland and northern New South Wales appreciate the convenience.
Virtual consultations are conducted via a secure video link emailed to you ahead of time. Your child will need to be present for all telehealth and in person appointments.
For initial consultations, an in-person meeting is required. We really like to meet our patients and family members face to face for the first visit. We also need to carry out a physical examination during this visit, making telehealth impractical.
Fees
Queensland Paediatric Endocrinology is a private practice consultancy.
There will be an out of pocket expense; we are not a bulk billing practice.
To be eligible for a Medicare rebate for consultations, the Australian Government requires a current referral from your doctor (usually your GP or paediatrician).
Full payment is required at the time of consultation. The Medicare rebate can be claimed at our consulting rooms after the consultation if Medicare has your bank details.
Further investigations such as pathology tests may be needed to assess and best treat your child's condition. Their cost is determined by those health providers.
If your child requires hospitalisation, we will bill your private health insurer directly. Depending on your insurer there is usually no out-of-pocket cost for hospitalisation.
Fees can vary depending on several factors including the complexity of the case and length of appointment. Contact our receptionists for the latest fees for initial consultations and follow-up appointments.
Preparing For Your Appointment
You and / or your child may have questions or some fears or worries leading up to the appointment.
Don't be afraid to ask anything! Write a list if that helps.
We strongly recommend you try not to worry. 'What if' won't help you or your child. A diagnosis - or ruling out a disorder - will. Searching for information online can be tempting, your specialist team is best placed to explain your child’s medical condition, investigations and results, as well as evidence-based treatment plans
During Your First Appointment
Your QPE specialist doctor will ask some questions to get to know you and your child, and go over your child's medical history.
A physical examination will be performed. A parent is welcome to stay with the child throughout the consultation.
Sometimes, specific tests or procedures may be needed. These will be explained, along with any risks.
Once investigations are completed and results received, the doctor will explain the diagnosis and discuss appropriate treatment.
